A strategic territory

A strategic territory inside Ile-de-France

Situated at the north of Paris, the area encompasses a large number of assets and wealth: Universities, research laboratories, worldwide and local companies, thousands of employees and inhabitants who bring it to life on a daily basis.

Benefiting from a full transport network which will develop even further in the next months and years, Plaine Commune represents a strategic territory inside Ile-de-France.

A movement already underway

In full development, the landscape of the Plaine Commune area is already modified by the arrival of strong economic structures, with a positive balance of 25 000 jobs created since the year 2000.

In the last few years, various institutions have established themselves in the region. From that angle, the building of Stade de France in 1997 played a key role, leading to the rebirth of a whole neighbourhood, where many companies of international reputation have since settled.

At the same time, the Pleyel area in Saint-Denis was therefore able to witness the launch of the RTE centre (Electricity network), a sensitive feature for the North of Paris, as well as the creation of the ZAC Pleyel-Libération, a new neighbourhood comprising accommodation, offices and hotels. It is in that area
notably that SFR has established its head office, as did the Cité du Cinéma by Luc Besson, a 14 acres site which came to completion in 2012.

In years to come, the main areas of economic settlement inside Ile-de-France will spread across the region, as the head office of SFR did in Saint-Denis, or as the head office (and research centre) of Véolia did in Aubervilliers.

In terms of training potential, Plaine Commune already enjoys the use of two university campuses (Paris 8 in Saint-Denis et Paris 13 in Villetaneuse), whilst waiting for the arrival of Campus Condorcet, a remarkable centre for excellence which will regroup the highest institutions in humanities, such as the EHESS, the EPHE or the Ecole Nationale des Chartes. This campus will be based between the north of Paris and Aubervilliers.

An important industrial heritage

The Plaine Commune region constitutes the area with the most real-estate potential in Ile-De-France for the next fifteen years. It comprises major sites such as Babcock in La Courneuve, the SNCF cathedrals in in Saint-Denis or the large zone of the Docks in Saint-Ouen.

To support its development, Plaine Commune can rely on various public and private sponsors such as the Caisse des dépôts et consignations, the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris or CAP Digital.

Between Paris and the world

If the creation of the " Grand Paris Express " and of its six future stations in Plaine Commune and in Saint-Ouen represents an essential asset for the region, the whole area is already well-catered for in terms or transports.

Thanks to the RER B, the region is already directly linked to the airports Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) and the Bourget. Access to Paris is also possible in a few minutes via the lines B and D of the RER. The imminent arrival of a TGV line in Pleyel will complete the link between Plaine Commune with the rest of France and to Europe.
