Created in 1984, the troupe of the Studio Théâtre de Stains has one ambition, " to establish theatre within our society " (Jean Vilar). It also has many assets : a local council that believes in the artistic project; a town made wealthy by the diversity of its population; a team convinced that cultural collaboration with all those around it is possible.
The founders, Xavier Marcheschi and Marjorie Nakache, have invested the town: their fieldwork feeds information and raises awareness on the creation process, sparking the interest of potential partners, of the public and of the local inhabitants.
The troupe favours led events and collaborative work – writing, testimonies, music – and meeting the audience. By bringing other art forms to the theatre– circus, dance or music – it creates an ongoing round-trip between the population and the creations, open towards the school and student audiences, with whom educational projects are put into place.
Site of creation for all, the Studio relies on the idea that the works are accessible by any public and that creations can slide smoothly from one to the next, as it would on s(a)tin .
