Built in 1989 on the site of a cinema and spectacle room (the Alhambra), Espace 1789 is a site of creation and artistic transmission. Equipped with two function rooms and an exhibition gallery, Espace 1789 schedules a great variety of films.
The cinema, classified as an art house, has two seals of approval: Young public and Research and Heritage.
Plays, concerts, dance and exhibitions complement the cinema programme, for all audiences: the rooms are equipped with access for the disabled and individual audio amplifiers for the hard-of-hearing. A team of around fifteen long-term members and many activities : cinema and film-club, sessions for the youngsters, special evenings, plays and spectacles for children etc. Artists in-residence, theatre workshops, dance courses, educational school courses on image, and meetings are also available as part of the many activities offered in the Espace 1789. From the Alhambra, a small local cinema, to the Espace 1789, a great (r)evolution !
